The National Pest Management Association has recently released their bi-annual Bug Barometer for the 2018-19 fall and winter seasons. The barometer is based on long term weather forecasts as well as pest biological behaviors. For the Southwestern region the NPMA has reported that drought conditions will cause an increase in rodent infestation as they are likely to seek shelter in search of steady food and water sources. Due to the record setting heat this summer it is not likely that mosquitos will pose a huge threat, but there is a high chance of insects such as ants and ticks to move into homes to escape the heat.
